There’s a lot more than we think to fashion stylists than just shopping clothes and dressing up models… I spent the whole week as an assistant Stylist for Elle Magazine, working on a 8 pages fashion editorial for the June issue. Let me tell you that it was one of the most thrilling yet hard working week of my life! When it comes to styling, there’s a huge creative process behind that requires a lot of detail oriented work. It’s all about a chosen theme, and we have to make sure that the clothes and accessories we pick connect with that theme… Once we’ve shopped all our items around many different boutiques in the city like Reborn, TNT, Holt Renfrew, The Bay, Simons, etc. it’s time to create the actual looks, and let me tell you that we often have to sacrifice a lot of nice pieces! For example, we might only end up choosing thirty pieces out of a hundred. Thing is, we always have to make sure that our outfits are telling a story, because that’s what it’s all about in the end.
Here is a little insider of the work that is done behind the picture you see in a Magazine… Unfortunately I can’t show you pictures of the actual shoot, but I can tell you that it’s going to be… well… spectacular!
